Content and Language Integrated Learning: Developing English & SDG

UAH

This MOOC has been designed to help future teachers in different – but connected – areas: a) improve English as a foreign language, b) learn about content and language integrated learning (CLIL) approach to teaching, and c) develop global competence in specific UN SDGs.

Participants are expected to improve their English (+B1), and to learn how to teach it by applying it in broader and multidisciplinary contexts. Contents and competences will be acquired combining the revision of different methodological approaches. The aim is to search, obtain, process and communicate information (oral, printed, audio-visual, digital and multimedia) related to some SDGs to apply it in the classroom. The course includes practical tasks which give participants an opportunity to become familiar with the use of specific UN SDGs for content, and how to integrate them into students’ language learning. The modules include selected videos, reading materials, activities, self-evaluation tests and a final cooperative task. Additionally, participants will contribute to group discussions about education in the UN SDGs, and in developing autonomous and critical thinking skills in our students. The e-learning platform will be used to access the contents, as a tool for self-study activities, for independent revisions of module materials, and for class communication. The course will take approximately 25-30 guided study hours to complete, which will include reading the material online and undertaking a wide variety of interactive exercises and assignments autonomously. We hope you enjoy the course!
